After spending several years as a marketing professional for a Fortune 500 company, I established Resume Plus, and began marketing people instead of products. I know what it takes to interest buyers. To establish value. To beat competitors. That knowledge and experience are the heart of every resume I create.
Methods to Develop Resumes Have Changed but Quality Remains High
The first resume I wrote was created using a Selectric typewriter. I wanted it to be perfect because correcting mistakes could be difficult. There wasn’t a delete button and having to fix typos could lead to starting over completely. So I put a lot of focus on being accurate.
Thousands of resumes later, I still focus on accuracy. Not just in typing the resume, making sure there are no spelling errors, and using the correct formatting enhancements, but also in writing content that accurately presents you to potential employers.
I make sure your resume is keyword rich so it gets past Applicant Tracking Systems. Contains your personal brand. And is prepared in the way today’s hiring managers want to see it. Not in an outdated style. I will prepare your resume in the current and most effective style designed to get you the interview.
My Work Has Been Published
Many of the resumes I have created have been featured in books that include:
2,500 Best Keywords to Get You Hired, McGraw-Hill Publishing
101 Best Cover Letters, McGraw-Hill Publishing
Expert Resumes for Manufacturing Careers, Jist Works Publishing
Expert Resumes for Healthcare Professionals, Jist Works Publishing
I am a Certified Professional Resume Writer and member of prestigious industry organizations. I have been recognized for my resume writing proficiency and job-market knowledge by being recruited as a speaker, presenter and resume writer by many different types of organizations.
As a member of the National Resume Writers Association, I share my knowledge and ideas with colleagues worldwide and participate in annual continuing education conferences. We learn from each other and stay up-to-the-minute on what the current job market demands.
Professional Association of Resume Writers and Career Coaches (PARW/CC).
I have served on the PARW/CC Board of Directors and as its Certification Committee Chair. This organization often recruited me as a judge for its Best Resume Writing contests and as a speaker at its annual conventions.
Wright State University, Dayton, OH
I was invited to speak to a graduate class of Wright State University in my hometown of Dayton, OH. I provided information on resume development that gave these recipients of newly minted master’s degrees an advantage over other graduating students.
Wright Patterson Air Force Base
When Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB) asked me to advise its transitioning military and civilian employees regarding resume preparation, I was flattered. After that presentation was well received, I was asked to consult with the WPAFB outplacement team about preferred methods of resume writing for the private sector.
CBS, Dayton OH Affiliate
I was the only area resume writer asked by a news anchor from our local CBS affiliate to be interviewed on-camera for a special program, Learning Counts.
US Defense Electronics Supply Center
When the US DESC underwent a massive reduction in force, I was the only professional resume writer in Dayton, OH to be selected for both Phase 1 and Phase II of the project. I wrote more than 300 resumes for the organization.
Receiving numerous referrals and a lot of repeat business from clients are testimonials to my ability to produce resumes that deliver results. However, when clients take the time to send a handwritten letter, email or thank-you card, it is deeply appreciated.
Why Choose Me?
When you hire Resume Plus, you hire me. This is a huge benefit in a world that has become less and less personal over the years.
- Unlike most resume writers, my background and training are in marketing. Therefore, I approach resume writing differently. Rather than just a prettied up list of jobs, I write to influence decision makers. When I develop your resume, it will be a finely tuned marketing piece that will get the best results possible.
- I don’t use a virtual assistant. I answer my own phone. So, you will not get brushed off by a gatekeeper or have your message go into an informal answering system that rarely gets checked.
- I work directly with you. Your project won’t go into a queue for the next available writer (for whom English might be a second or even third language).
- During and after your project, even years later, I’m just a phone call away from helping you make important career decisions. Even when I’m on vacation or otherwise absent from the office, I frequently check emails and phone calls so I can respond to your needs quickly.

Sue, I remain friends with the president of my former employer, so I gave him a copy of my resume. I thought you might like to see his comments: “Now that is a good-looking resume. I will try to pass it along to selected individuals. Your person did a great job.”
Thanks again for your help.
Ted James, La Habra, CA
